Sacroiliac Joint Pain

If you have sacroiliac joint pain, visit our doctor at Park West Pain Management, located 1 West 85th Street in Manhattan, New York or at our office in Staten Island, NY for pain management and pain treatment.

The Sacroiliac joint (SI joint) is the joint in your pelvis that hold the sacrum to the iliac bones to form your pelvis. This joint allows for the movement of the pelvis during normal movements and allows the pelvis to stretch during delivery of a baby. This joint usually does not move much and is not noticeable in the normal state.

Your body is a dynamic system that moves fluidly without your perception. One of the most common causes of SI joint pain is having another underlying condition that causes the joint to not move in the normal manner, such as hip, knee, or ankle pain that cause a change in your normal way of walking. SI joint pain can also be caused by systemic problems such as arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, to name a few.

Sacroiliac pain is often confused with hip pain, low back pain, or buttock pain. SI joint pain can actually be responsible for up to 15% of low back pain. If you have been diagnosed with SI joint dysfunction, SI joint sprain/strain, or sacroiliitis, or think you may have this problem, our doctor at Park West Pain Management would be glad to evaluate you and suggest minimally to non invasive options available to treat this pain.
